Tooling Engineer
Requisition Number: P9495
Location: Operations Center (LSR) - Eau Claire, WI
Responsibilities
- Serve as a consultant to production / manufacturing on all tooling related issues
- Develop and establish cost estimates, project options, and design alternatives
- Evaluate tooling orders to determine whether tooling should be manufactured in-house or procured from outside vendor
- Follow up on tooling to ensure compliance with PPC standards in design, tool build, and tool build schedule
- Develop tooling manufacturing timelines and communicate progress and/or changes on tooling to project engineer and/or program manager and customer service representatives
- Establish a vendor base that meets Phillips-Medisize requirements
- Actively pursue avenues to reduce tool build time and costs
- Critique part designs for optimum tooling and processing performance
- Extended travel may be required to other facilities to support business needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications - Education & Experience
- B.S. degree in engineering field with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or a minimum 7 years mix of education and directly related experience without the bachelors degree
- Working knowledge of medical device manufacturing
- Minimum of four (4) years tooling experience in the molding industry.
- Experience communicating with customers

- Strong and diverse technical injection molding tooling, materials, manufacturing, quality, and product design skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering project management
- Strong tool build and design knowledge
- Working knowledge of injection molding and materials
- Strong tool build and design knowledge
- Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to make recommendations for secondary operations, procedures, fixtures, and supplies
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Working knowledge of injection molding and materials
- Working knowledge of thermoplastic and liquid silicone rubber.
- Some travel to customers and other Phillips-Medisize Corporation facilities
