Traditionally, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and thermoplastics such as PC, PBT, and PA inhabited different worlds. They solved different problems and were handled using different processes. But all that has changed rapidly in recent years, especially in Europe, where the trend first took root. Now, combined LSR and thermoplastic parts are showing up in products ranging from intravenous components to showerheads and spark plug boots.
We often have customers who are very familiar with thermoplastics. Sometimes they are familiar with silicone applications, too. However, for many of them the advantages of combining the two will come as a revelation.
