Turning The Tide On Diabetes

Phillips Plastics Corporation® is being recognized as a supplier to Insulet Corporation, who recently became a recipient of the 2006 Medical Design Excellence Award for their product, the OmniPod™ Insulin Management System. The Medical Design Excellence Awards competition is the only awards program that exclusively recognizes contributions and advances in the design of medical products.

The OmniPod is an insulin management system, which eliminates the need for daily insulin injections, via a needle or syringe, and does not require the patient to be tethered to a conventional insulin pump via tubing.

According to Phillips' Program Manager, Chriss Oseland, “Phillips is proud to be part of Insulet's achievements and the associated advancements of the diabetes device industry. Insulet chose Phillips for our different prototyping options and diverse manufacturing capabilities. They knew early on they needed to partner with a company that would help them succeed. Although there are challenging components, by working together and drawing upon Phillips' experience in multi-shot, micro molding, medical molding, and decorating, it has been a successful program.”
